My name is Patrick ZurSchmiede and I am a Senior at the Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College in Chicago, studying under Dr. Carolyn Hart. I am currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in vocal performance with the intention of getting my Masters degree and becoming a professional opera singer.

2015 Updates

In January, I performed the roll of Æneas in Wheaton College's production of Purcell's Opera Dido and Æneas

In March, I had the honor of singing the role of Jesus in Le Reniement de St Pierre

I was a finalist and received an honorable mention at the Chicago Chapter NATS competition in the Spring.

A week before spring finals, I had an extraordinary and life altering experience. I was admitted to the emergency room and eventually to the ICU with a severe case of encephalitis.

The recovery process has been a challenging, uphill battle. But as I grow stronger, I am meeting each new challenge with enthusiasm and energy. I look forward to finishing my studies at Wheaton and graduating in the spring.

This summer, I returned to Speculator, New York as a member of the music staff at the Christian family resort, Camp of the Woods. My job include singing in a number of concerts. I joined seven other vocalists and an orchestra, as we performed repertoire from many genres including classical, chamber music, opera, broadway, big band, vocal and instrumental solos, and sacred music.

We also led the guests in daily worship.

2013 was an exciting year!

In January I had great fun performing as The Pirate King in the Wheaton College production of Pirates of Penzance.

In April, I was honored to be the bass soloist in Mozart's Requiem in D minor , performing with the Wheaton College Vocal Ensembles and the Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra.

It was an exciting and educational summer at the Brevard Music Center, as a member of The Janiec Opera Company, directed by Dean Anthony.

In the Fall, I had the great pleasure of collaborating with folk singer/guitarist/harmonicist Buddy Greene and accordionist/pianist Jeff Taylor singing  baritone in a gospel quartet.

In November I competed in the vocal concerto competition at Wheaton College and was thrilled to win 1st place.
